We have now traveled 776 miles on the Alaska Highway. Tonight we are at a campground in Telsin, Yukon Territory. We have a good Wi-Fi connection here. We probably will not have Wi-Fi the next few days. It is becoming more common for the campgrounds to have it. This campground is on the shore of beautiful Lake Telsin.

Last night we stayed in Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park. They have natural hot springs. It was quite an experience. The temperature was about 108 degrees.

We have been in and out of rain showers just about every day. I have washed the motorhome two times. The next day it rains, and it looks just as bad.

This morning we passed several small buffalo herds along the road. They ignored us and just kept on grazing. There were a number of calves. We also saw a number of Stone Sheep, similar to Big Horn Sheep.

Tomorrow we are going to Whitehorse, YT. It is a fairly large city. They even have a Wal-Mart. We need to do some restocking.

It is now 10:30 p.m. and still very bright outside. Think the sun may go down between 11:00 and 11:30.

Alaska Highway at last

Taken in Banff National Park In Alberta, Canada.

We are at Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. The Alaska Highway begins here. We have traveled 4,463 miles in the past 2 weeks.

Our first day was a disaster. About 35 miles from home, the brakes locked up on the motorhome. We were towed approximately 40 miles, and the next day the entire braking system was rebuilt. The Workhorse Company covered it under warranty. If we would have had to pay for it, the cost would have been over $1800. My CoachNet insurance, similar to AAA, covered the towing cost. It ended up costing us a day and a half of our vacation.

First we visited John's sister, Betty, in Pearcy, AR, just spent the night, and then headed for Utah. We had made arrangements to spend the first weekend with John's cousins, JoNell Howe and Judy Tower, and husbands Micky and Dennis, at Dead Horse Point State Park which is adjacent to Canyonlands National Park.

Next we headed for Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta, Canada. We saw a grizzly mom with her cub beside the highway, a black bear, many elk, mountain goats and big horn sheep. Between Banff and Jasper we rode in an "Ice Explorer" out on Athabasca Glacier, and also walked on the glacier, in the Columbia Ice Fields.

Friday we left Jasper National Park and traveled east toward Edmonton. We parked the motorhome at a provincial park about 35 miles from Edmonton. We are towing our truck so drove it to West Edmonton Mall. They claim it is one of the world's largest shopping malls. We had heard so much about it we just had to see it, since we were so close.

We spent our Sabbath in a provincial park and today headed north to Dawson Creek.

Tomorrow we will stay here and see the Mile "O" Marker of the Alaska Highway and a few other points of interest.
